Privacy Policy

Applies to the Canada Prospector apps for iOS and Android, published by Auriven Labs.

Overview

We collect as little data as possible — and only what is needed to make the app work. There is no account to create, and nothing you record in the app is uploaded to us. The exceptions are listed plainly below: map rendering, advertising attribution, and open-ground alerts.

Information We Collect

• Location data — Used while the app is open to show your position on the map and to power features like Near Me search and distance sorting. Your position is held on your device. It is not transmitted to us, and it is not stored in any account. Map tiles are requested from Mapbox for the area you are viewing, which necessarily tells Mapbox what part of the map you are looking at; that is governed by Mapbox's own privacy policy.
• Crash reports — Anonymous diagnostic data via the platform's standard crash reporting (Apple on iOS, Google Play on Android), used to fix bugs. This data is not linked to your identity.

We do not gather names, email addresses, or other personally identifiable information.

What We Don't Do

• We do not require account registration.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
• We do not show advertising inside our apps.

Advertising Attribution

We advertise our apps on Meta platforms. So that we can tell whether an ad led to an install, our apps include Meta's measurement SDK, which reports app installs and app launches to Meta along with your device's advertising identifier. It does not read your data, your saved records or your location, and we receive no personal information from it — only counts.

On iOS this runs through Apple's SKAdNetwork, which reports installs to Meta in aggregate; we do not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, so no cross-app identifier is available to us. On Android you can limit this at any time in Settings › Privacy › Ads, by deleting or resetting your advertising ID.

Subscriptions & Purchases

Pro features are sold as an auto-renewing subscription, processed by Apple on iOS and by Google Play on Android. All payment processing is handled entirely by the store — we never receive or store your payment details. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy respectively.

Device Permissions

• Location — Optional. The app works without it; granting it enables your position on the map, Near Me and distance sorting.
• Calendar — With your permission, the app can add mineral claim expiry dates to your device calendar so you don't miss a deadline. These events are created in your own calendar and are never sent to us.
• Notifications — With your permission, the app sends you two kinds of alert. See the next section, because they work differently.

Alerts, and the one server we run

Claim expiry reminders are scheduled on your device and never leave it. No server sees them.

Open-ground alerts — telling you when ground opens inside an area you are watching — are matched on our server, because the ground opens whether or not the app is running. To do that we store, for as long as you keep the alert:

• the notification token your phone's operating system gives us;
• the name and map rectangle of each area you asked to watch;
• the identifiers of any claims you are watching.

Turning an alert off, or letting Pro lapse, deletes those records. We never store your position, your saved places, your notes or your work logs — those stay on your device.

Apart from the alert subscriptions described above, we operate no servers holding your data.

Third-Party Services

Our apps render maps using Mapbox, whose own privacy policy governs that service, and display public data published by the governments of Nova Scotia, Ontario and British Columbia. The app may also link to third-party websites you choose to open, such as a provincial registry or a reference document. These services are governed by their own privacy policies, and we do not control the data they collect.

Data Storage

All data you create in the app — favourites, field notes, points of interest, watched claims, assessment work logs, settings and cached map data — remains under your control, stored on your device. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored information.

Device Sync and Backup

On iOS, if you are signed into iCloud, data you create in the app may sync across your devices via Apple's CloudKit service. This data is stored in your private iCloud account and is not accessible to Auriven Labs. It remains in your iCloud account until you delete it within the app or remove it from your iCloud settings, and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

On Android, the app participates in Google's Auto Backup, so your app data and settings may be included in your device backup and restored when you reinstall or move to a new device. That backup lives in your own Google account, is not accessible to Auriven Labs, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can turn it off in your device's backup settings.

Children

Canada Prospector is a tool for mineral exploration and is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your Choices

• Deny or revoke the location, calendar and notification permissions at any time in your device settings — the app keeps working without them.
• Turn off an open-ground area alert to delete its record from our server.
• Reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device settings.
• Uninstall the app to remove everything stored locally.

Changes

We may update this policy as the apps change. The date above shows the current version.
